Why? Just book on the internet.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Exactly,if its cheaper on the net why book it in a shop."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0

If you want face to face high st. type service pay the price for that. If you want the cheapest then forego that level of service and book on the internet. But it was certainly worth a punt trying to get them to price match.0

Why specifically do you want to book on the high street?
We've booked all our recent holidays online and haven't had a problem.
You can't force travel agents to price match, you've tried for it and been refused.
You now have a straight choice between the cheaper online option or the more expensive high street one.0 -
Thomas cook might price match.0

The point about the internet being cheaper is because they dont have high street rates and a shop to pay for.. you are also paying for face to face service.
I have booked online before too and am happy as long as the company is ATOL etc bonded.

Book online and check to see if you can go through Quidco (or similar).....0

Its easy to assume that all Agents have the same prices and can therefore Price match each other... but in reality all Agents have different levels of commission (dependant on Volume of Sales) and therefore different prices.
As suggested the online price is cheaper in this case because you are not paying for the help, advice and aftercare service that a High Street agent would offer you.
As a Travel Agent myself I often loose bookings because I cant Pricematch the big guys, and then I get the Customer calling me after they have booked online to ask for my advice (its easier to call me rather than the Premium Rate number online) ... I should start charging for answering questions!!
I've just had a guy recently who expected me to discount his holiday by so much that I would actually end up paying towards his travel out of my own pocket, he just couldnt understand why I couldnt go any lower :rotfl:2009 Savings & Winnings so far....Pigsback £15.06 +[strike]£40[/strike] M&S Vouchers + £20 New Look + TNS £15 Capital Bonds + Qype Ninja Goodies + £50 Virgin VoucherSealed Pot Challenge #589 - Target £1500 -
