I'm a 46 year old female. I've put on weight - size 14 to 16 - and can't get into my old clothes Size 12, 10 and even 8. I don't wan't to have to buy a whole new collection of clothes in a bigger size as this will cost a fotune...so I MUST LOSE WEIGHT and get healthy. In order to do this I must:-
This is my blog.
I have already started and if I don't have a drink to night I will not have had any alcohol for a week:T
- Stop drinking
- Get more active
- Eat healthier (try to achieve 5-a-day)
- Quit smoking (I smoke a small amount only)
This is my blog.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Thanks guys:D
Well I managed my first week without a drink:j I did find the weekend hard, however:o ( How sad is that LOL.) and now I've done a day without a ciggy:T.
This morning for breakfast it was 2 bananas, one hazelnut yogurt, one vitamin c tablet, and one cod liver oil and calcium tablet.
Good Luck to everyone else who is trying to get healthier and wealthier:pWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. I thought I'd face my demons this morning and I got on the scales - oh my - I have between 1 and half to 3 stone to lose:eek:. On the one hand I can see this as potential savings - as this is money I don't need to spend on food/calories in the future; on the other hand that is one big mountain to climb:eek::cool:
April Goals
Savings- Alcohol £115
- Cigs £ 30
- Food £ 85
- TOTAL £230
I'll be back :money::DWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Well done Shaggydoo, keep up the good work!
I have similar goals to you - I've put on a bit of weight, and don't want to have to go and buy a whole new wardrobe. I don't have much to lose, but find it really hard to even lose a few pounds. The thing that's worked for me in the past is Slimfast - as it's a time-saver in that i don't have to cook or get loads of ingredients in, and (espec if you get it on offer) it's cheap on a per-meal basis.
I'm also trying to walk and cycle as much as possible.
Anyways, good luck - keep us posted on your progress0 -
Hi:hello:
Well I did it - 2 weeks without drinking:j:j
Rome wasn't built in a day - so I haven't suddenly lost loads of weight:o - so on Sunday I went through my wardrobe and found some clothes that fit and I'm happy to wear for now. This means that I don't feel a pressing need to buy new clothes:j which is what this is really about - not having to spend money on clothes. So zilch spent on clothes:T
This next weekend will be a challenge. I have lots of social events and getting through them on soft drinks will be difficult but not (I hope) impossible.
The other good thing I've noticed about not drinking is that I don't get the muchies - no snacking on crisps, peanuts, etc. So that saves calories too.
Looking at my spending diary I think I spend about £60 to £65 per month on alcohol. So I am saving about £2 per day or £720 per year. However, the real money I will save is not having to replace my clothes which will save me thousands.
If I can get through the next couple of weekends alcohol free then my next challenge must be to up my exercise regime. This is all about finding free time, which is easier said than done.
Good Luck everyone on your money saving ideas - whatever they are:DWhat do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0
