hi - our weight for hand luggage is 5kg with TC. Has anyone had their hand luggage actually weighed by TC? Our family is really struggling with this! thanks

what I do is take a large handbag and keep it on my shoulder stuffed with books, all the heavy things etc and a hold all as hand luggage. they have never asked to see my hand bag or put it in the scales just the hold all
IT'S ALL ABOUT ME!!!:j:money:0 -
thanks carole.uk. TC seem to be very strict with the one hand luggage thing. I was hoping like yourself to take a handbag also?0

I would be very careful.
I've been told to put my handbag in the same bag because you're only allowed one piece of hand luggage.
The travel firms are all trying to make as much as they can from us now, that's why it's pay for extra leg room , meals, priority boarding & check in ect.
We never used to get that!
To be honest I think it's potluck on who you get when you check in.
What I do is only have what I need on my way in my handbag.
What I would advise though they are very strict on liquid items now unless you have the small see through bags! They will take things off you if you don't have them bagged! Seen that.
Have a lovely hol!0 -
You can always wear coats..... with pockets.
Very rarely had mine checked, but it can happen. Is the main problem the hold allowance (15kg?), or do you have a heap of relatively valuable stuff you don't want to put in the hold?0 -
I have done about 8 flights in the past 12 months and I can honestly say they have never even mentioned my handbag my last flight to tunisia for a month so needed loads of stuff & because i booked the flights late the web site would not let me book extra luggage i was a bit worried because my case was over by a little bit but they never said any thing or asked to see my handbag that had 4 books in it, i had a holdall and carried my portable dvd player which they put a tag on but didn't weigh it
I might just have been lucky ,, they were strict on liquids with people thoughIT'S ALL ABOUT ME!!!:j:money:0 -
Yes, I have had hand luggage weighed and on a Thomas Cook flight last summer, my companion had to have her handbag put on the scales too. It was quite a big one and she had stuffed a couple of books into it!! They did allow it however but I have seen people having to put bags into the hold.
On the budget airlines, many let you take a bag of any weight (within reason) but it must be within certain dimensions and fit into the overhead lockers. However, they only allow ONE bag so even a handbag has to be put into the bigger bag at least until after security.0 -
