Investment Funds Vs. Shares

Thanks to you all who advised on my previous thread. I am now finalising a spread of investments, some of which I will be investing in equities. Athough some will going into specific investment funds, I am itching to buy some medium risk shares (Glaxo, Rolls Royce etc). The question that I can't stop asking myself is surely if a stock is of value then it will already be on the fund managers radar. Am I not simply trying to out guess an experienced fund manager. (Trouble is I really want to scratch that itch, is that just the gambler inside me trying to get out). HELP!!

Why?
Unless you have a significant sum to invest, buying "medium risk" shares is inherently more risky than buying into a fund that itself invests in "medium risk" shares.
Possibly. Possibly not. You'd have to answer that question yourself. If you want to gamble your money away, investing in single shares is usually a good bet!

To be fair, you didn't give anyone much to go on and you really answered the question yourself. If you need someone to tell you what to do, or to "back up" a decision you've already made, perhaps you should consider the issue of risk a little more closely!
So then, after sifting through all that feedback I'm still none the wiser. For the avoidance of doubt: I work for an IFA.0
