    How about:
    http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?nav=227&product=SOLV105&title=IBM+Netvista+Desktop+P4+2.66Ghz+-+512Mb+-+40Gb+-+DVD-ROM+-+Win+XP

Have a look at other on there site too there is better/more expensive, I can vouch for the site I have been a customer of with them for years and had many orders. They won't sell you a dodgy license either.

    Keyboard+Mouse
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/150442

Monitors can be picked up for around £50 for flat panels, or if you look local (ebay + postcode search) pick up a CRT (bulky) monitor from about £5

    Hope this helps

Are you sure it is good value? I think it is expensive scrap. Our Dells at work which we MUST scrap are 5/6 years old and have this spec. We pay people to remove them, although we have to take out the hard disk first. They do have MS xp licenses on the cases.

Bet the virus checkers and spyware checkers are the free ones.

I just do not see it as great value, especially when you get the below. Ok it is a bit different but I think it is better value. Definitely faster hardware and I think hp stuff has 3 year warranty - could be wrong though

All is missing is the os, sound card, mouse, screen and keyboard. A good video card and DVD writer may come handy too, Excluding the screen, they are fairly cheap components.

    Power supply type 365 Watts

For 85 quid and if it had an XP COA, it would have been good value as a plug'n'play. If the OP had wanted something at 200 quid odd, (plus time) I'd send him/her somewhere else. Horses for courses.

    Come on Ruby. !!

You may need a dvd player.
You may also need more memory, I find XP SP3 needs a gig to work decently.
but hey, at 40 quid, you can afford a few extras.
Broadband ready = network card. Nothing else.

Certainly nothing special, but the specs and price line up, as mentioned its just if the OS is legit mainly.

It's actually very similar to mine, except I have Athlon XP2400 and 768mbRAM and 2x80gb HDs.

The only new bits being the XP Home and one of the HDs.

The rest, literally "rescued" from a skip (as was the monitor) or from other peoples cast offs.

Keep it "lean and mean" i.e. don't fill it with carp, and it will be faster than some of the modern stuff, e.g. Vista/1gb RAM
