eBay transactions office service!!!

Hi,

I am a newbie to ebay and have recently put four photo ipods up for sale. These were purchased by me with vouchers i received as part of an insurence settlement and i need to turn these into cash before xmas hence i bought these ipods from pc world to sell on ebay (at a slight loss).

Anyway I have two of these on regular auction (and thats going fine) and teo of them are listed as "buy it now". Today i received an email from a chap from italy enquiring to one. This guy has 0 feedback and has only registered with ebay last month.

Anyway i replied asking him how he would like to pay (and if its paypal i would only ship to the paypal registered address).

So heres the reply i got:-

Ok, I will buy them both. I'm located in Italy.
Please let me know your final price including the shipping cost (I preffer next day delivery type).
We don't know each other so we need a safe way to conduct this
transaction. eBay offers purchase protection plans for these situations.
I recommend the eBay transactions office service for a safe and secure deal for both parts.
I will also pay the eBay fees for this.
I will send the money at eBay.
When they have received the money, they will contact you with the transaction info.
After you are assured that the item has been paid, you will send me the package.
After the package is sent you will receive the money from ebay.

Thank you.

IS this ebay purchase protection he is talking about safe for me?Also how then do ebay pay me? Paypal?

And he writes after the package is sent you will receive the money from ebay. How will they know that i have sent the package??

All help and advise would be appreciated as like i said i have never sold anything on ebay before (only bought things).

Regards.

Scam scam scam scam!!!! Classic scam!!

He will either direct you to a scam website which appears to be run by EBay, or try to pay you via a service such as Western Union. His funds will appear to be cleared into your account. Then you will dispatch the Ipod.

Few days later, call from your bank, funds have been identified as fraudulent and they have cancelled them.

    Result: No Ipod, No money.

This is a variation on the classic Nigerian and Singapore scam. Search on this board and EBay discussion boards for scams to find a more detailed explanation of how this works.

Don't touch with a bargepole!!! Be warned!!!
