When do I remove the masking tape after gloss painting?

Just done some and not sure if I take off now or leave until totally dry:confused:

I did some silicone sealing last week and was told to take it off immediately. But something in the back of my mind said leave when using gloss paint. So thanks for getting back so fast and I will relax now:beer:

Just don't leave it too long. It will go brittle & stick down very firmly. I'd take it off day after.

For info you can buy 14 day, 30 day etc masking tape that stays pliable & will still come off.

I agree, take it off as soon as everything is dry

But whatever you do, or anybody else reading this, is dont attach the tape, do 1 coat, then leave it for a week till you do the next coat, thats when you will have the problems of paint coming away with the masking tape.
Masking tape removal works better when you have done your coat, then you finish it all on the 2nd or 3rd day.

For future reference, dont go buying the low tack masking tape, its costs a small fortune, just buy your normal masking tape, and before you apply it on your wall, wood etc, just peel lengths of the tape, place the strips on your jeans, or whatever clothes you are wearing for decorating, remove the strip, place it back on, do this approx 3 times, this will still leave you enough tack for the tape to stick on your wall etc, plus much easier to remove from wall without causing any damage. :D

I think my masking tape has made its own mind up!!!!

Where on gloss paint, or emulsion paint, it is OK but where I used on ceramic wall tiles it started peeling off earlier so had to remove in those spots and it has left a ragged edge which I will have to let dry for the next week then scrape off and do the 'steady had' touch up --- no tape.
