have you had a look at hotukdeals.co.uk? sometimes sainsburys have them in store.

I would guess 500gb would set you back £50-60 on a good day? not portable.

western digital from amazon for £69 about 6 months ago and it is brill,,try amazon and c what they have to offer

it may be worth looking at getting a caddy. They cost about £10 and you can then buy the hard drive size you like to put in it. Also means you can upgrade quite cheaply.

Looking at the links for the Toshiba 500Gb ext hard drive which are priced at £50 for an extra £20 you can get a 1000Gb (1T) hard drive

After all that OH bought me one from Argos - maxtor for £74 - it was a 640Gb.. (seems expensive to me but I didn't know I was getting it as a suprise!)..
