A half way house may be a block of flats with an onsite caretaker.
Most of our neighbours are in their sixties and older and our caretaker is fantastic. He cuts the grass and maintains the gardens, will check on your flat whilst you are away, weed out your junk mail if you want and signs for all parcels and delivers them to your front door. He takes people to the GP or hairdressers and sorts out meter readings if you want.
Many of the residents only live here for a few months a year because they are travelling but know that their properties will be looked after. We pay £1,350 in service charges including the services of the caretaker. The flats are arranged in four self-contained blocks each with their own lift.
One of the reasons we bought here was so we knew it would be secure when we went away.0 -

Thanks for that and sounds as if I would rather be in that type of scheme. He likes the idea of older neighbours as he perceives them to be quieter and no wooden floors upstairs?????
He is looking at Rightmove rentred but wonders how he can find the sort of place you are in as the agents put very very little detail on rented stuff? Any tips?A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. In latter part of career specialising in commercial - mostly business sales.0 -

On the whole I'm sure they are quieter, but remember that some older people develop hearing problems and have their TVs on very loud:eek:. So best check out the quality of the sound insulation in any case!0
