New wireless modem router ... what else do I need to do?

Hi I have bought a new wireless modem router today and was wondering if I need to do anything else. I have set up some WEP security.

On the website there are some firmware downloads, GPL codes, and some setupwizard downloads  .

Should I download these? If so should I download ALL the firmware or just the most recent?

TIA

Dx

Ohh, WPA is much better. WEP can be cracked in a few minutes nowadays. Firmware upgrades are good to get but you should have the latest anyway...just get the latest firmware however I would not recommend installing the updates to the router just yet, use it and let it settle in for a week or so. What make and model is it?

I found the WPA, really difficult to understand, but will try it again another day. (When the boys are at school and I have time to think)

What can happen if someone 'cracks' it?

I bought a Linksys wireless-N ADSL2+ Gateway (WAG325N) from Staples, with the option to return it if I can't get it sorted.

I have been looking for a cheap wireless modem for a while. Something to tied us over until I change ISP. I bought a NETGEAR from Ebay 2 weeks ago but it hasn't arrived and no communication from the seller.

I have no idea about this modem and was won over by the price (£46) and the fact that I could get a full refund if I couldn't get on with it. I think it's a pretty old model so was concerned about firmware.

    Thanks

    Wpa is easier than wep.

What can happen, people can use your net connection, get your files, passwords, watch your browsing, infect your pc's, all worse case scenario's.
