know someone who has an account with them so can use it ,live in south west
  • the discounts are pretty good for trademen within Howdens but 6k seems quite high but will depend if you've got intergrated items like freezer, washing machine, these bump the prices up. Get them to draw up a kitchen plan with dimensions etc and take it into B&Q or wickes for a comparison. It will also depend on which kitchen style/type you go for aswell

6k plus VAT still sounds alot even with intergrated electricals IMO.

If you are an account holder at Howdens, their discounts are fabulous and were about 60% cheaper than MFI for exactly the same items.

Are you looking in the correct price list as they have 2:confused: .....one for customers and one for traders.

I have just had a Howdens kitchen fitted - 18 units plus worksurfaces, pelmets, end panels etc. The only intgregated appliance I had gas a cooker and five burner hob. I am trying to remember the name of the range. It was an oak kitchen about half way through the brochure. I paid £4360. Which also included a sink, moving of a gas pip and gas reconnection, dropping down a ceiling, adding more sockets and all fitting. Plus the removal of the old kitchen. Tiling was extra as someone else did that.
  • Get a quote from B&Q/Wickes for a similar range. That will always be cheaper as around now B&Q/Wickes have 1/2 to 1/3rd off and they give additional discounts. Then get Howdens to price match.
My kitchen came down from 3500 to 2700 for the Turnbridge Beach range. Also never buy appliances from Howdens, use the internet for that. Reducing the number of steel moving parts like pull out larders, corner unit pull out units etc will also reduce price.
Spend less on the kitchen units and find someone good to fit it. Ultimately it is the fitting which counts.
  • You be able to haggle as there are so many sales on at the moment
  • I'm a bookeeper/secretary for a construction firm. I was on the phone to Magnet the other day who told me their prices are actually lower than Howdens at the moment and they do the same ranges. Not sure how true that is as we are not fitting any kitchens at the moment to compare. Might be worth a look though.

For Howdens and Magnet Trade etc, in my experience it all depends on which branch you go to. For instance in one Howdens, they said as I would be a new account holder the maximum discount would be 50%. But then others said 50%.

I went in the end with Magnet trade, and tried two branches and found there was a £1200 difference between the two!

I went to a Howdens showroom yesterday and got a brochure - without prices.

How do I go about actually getting a kitchen designed? Do I have to find a fitter first or should someone at Howdens do this for me?

Thank you to anyone that helps
