Hi... I'm single, and I want to go on holiday on my own. Finding it extremely difficult to find something at a reasonable price! I'm not out to be social, to "make new friends" - I just want to go away and relax by myself, thanks very much. Away from the beaten track would be lovely, like a little B&B rather than a huge resort hotel.
UK would be fine, or Europe, or Mediterranean. As I have special dietary requirements I'd also need a self-catering place (with kitchen and shops nearby-ish) so I can make my own food. I don't really know where to look... any thoughts?
Thanks!
Susanne

You and me both! Why do us singles always have to want to be sociable?!

What about maybe renting a small cottage up in the North of Scotland? It's beautiful - and you can't get any more off the beaten track than that, in the UK at least. Only (potential) problem is you really need your own transport.
I'm currently considering a summer holiday in either the Austrian or Swiss Alps, travelling independently.
I'm sure wherever you end up you'll have a great time!0 -
You know - I happen to be Austrian and if you want a summer holiday there, as a single you're usually quite spoiled for choice. There's lots, mostly they're into wellness as well as hiking/walking. tiscover.at is quite helpful (choose English in the top right hand corner)
As for me, I'd love to either stay in the UK or go to a sunny place. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side: Austria isn't for me, heh.
Good luck to you!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I haven't checked recently but Mercury Direct always used to feature a lot of 'no single supplement' holidays.0

Stay in a Youth Hostel: ideal for singles, and you are guaranteed a well-equipped kitchen.0

A lot depends on your budget, of course.
Last year, I went to Soller in Mallorca. It's a beautiful, unspoilt, traditional place. I got really cheap flights. Took a bus from the airport to Palma, then a bus to Soller (very easy), or there's a little old fashioned train that goes direct there too. If you take a little wheelie suitcase, it's really easy to manage on your own! You absolutely don't need a car here. The travelling part was really cheap.
I stayed B & B here;

However, this doesn't really help your self-catering quest, which is a nuisance as you're going to pay the same as if there were 2 or 3 people sharing.
This looks lovely though and about the same price as the B&B, and probably as a cottage in the UK!

Good luck with your quest anyway!0 -
A friend of mine is in the same situation. I've been on the lookout for him and found one which he liked the look of. Staying for a week HB at the Sirenis Playa Dorada I'm Cala Llonga on Ibiza, leaving mid May from BHX for £286. That was with Thomas Cook.0

Just to throw another idea in.
Ryanair fly to Pula Croatia from Stansted. ATM it is a route offering £5 flights.
Eg 14th May for 7 nights £25.52 return incl taxes (carry-on bag and booking with Electron card).
Travelling for example May or Sept (consider staying 5 nights instead of a full week) you could have a value for money holiday in a gorgeous place like this. Plus you are out of the euro zone!

This really appeals to me, just don't fancy the drive to and from Stansted for the cheap flight!0
