With Powergen's sky price rises, I am definitley going to have cavity wall and loft installation done soon.

Then at least I can switch the heating off an hour earlier and turn the temp down.

A good move. Don't forget to search for grants through Energy Saving Trust. That should list who could make the installation cheaper for you. Nearly all the big companies offer good discounts and you don't have to be a customer either. Scottish Power recently had a good offer available, so perhaps look there as well.

Hi cheggers,I have been waiting 3 weeks now for a company to get in touch with us regarding a survey for cavity wall,we went through Hydro electric,there are some good grants around,we have to pay about £190.00 for a four bedroom semi,A lot of people are entitled to free insulation its worth looking into.

You mean loft insulation. Yeah, wise choice, I'm having it done too.

Our loft is well insulated and boarded I did this a few years ago.

On Monday I had cavity wall insulation installed and wow what a difference, the house doesn't take as long to warm up and as mentioned we can turn the heating off an hour or so earlier plus I've lready found that we don't need the heating on as high. The whole house feels much more cozy and add to this the reduction in outside noise and I have to say it is well worth it.

We got ours done through BG with a company called Dyson Insulations for £175 (3 bed semi) both the company and the results are to be applauded.
