Hi I've just been in touch with Powergen to get a quote using "staywarm".Guess what as 1 person with two bedrooms living in North Wales I was quoted £687 per year. That's £171.15 per quarter. What with the council tax and water rates that's over half my pension gone!!!I'd rather freeze than have to pay that much to stay warm. I think Martin is loosing it putting THEM in his money saving column!!!They DO NOT deserve to be there. On the other hand is there anyone cheaper out there???I'd be interested to know.

Hi,Up here in Glasgow its £795 per year so would have thought North Wales would have been much the same but its not.Thats for 1 person 2 bedroom mid- terrace. For past week I,ve read my meter and going by Scottish Powers new prices I,ve used £21.52 although paying Staywarm £15.30 .I have 2 storage heaters downstairs and 1 large upstairs and use electric fire for about 30 mins to boost living room too 72f.

You are paying Staywarm £15.30 all through the summer as well when hardly any power is being used. I am paying Staywarm £80.32 per month for a 3 bedroom semi in Birmingham. There are 2 of us. I am cancelling at the end of the month, have spent 3 years with them but have been keeping meter readings for the last 15 months and am paying well over the odds. As soon as the winter is over I am changing supplier.

    pegeen,

If you are interested in a fixed monthly price tariff you could ask Swalec (0800 052 5252) if easywarm is available in your area. I am not sure if they restrict it to South Wales only or if it is available in North Wales as well (definitely not available in England or Scotland). Easywarm is Swalec's equivalent to Powergen Staywarm and is a fair bit cheaper. E.g. £47/month for 1 person and 2 bedrooms.

Of course, this time of the year is not a good time to be joining any fixed monthly price scheme. Much better to stay on a metered tariff until October or November.

My Mother is with staywarm and i know she is paying to much but the reason she will not change is that she is able to have the heat turned up all day and never have to worry about a massive bill coming in which is what most people on a pension would dred . so what price piece of mind ?
