Swapping houses

Options
Hi, I need some help on how to save money on swapping my house.

I want to exchange houses with my brother, there is no money involved, regardless of property values. We have physically exchanged, but now comes the legal side of things.

Im not too clever on that side, friends are saying go to a solicitor, but they are giving me really high quotes and i can't afford to do it that way, and the solicitors are saying that my brother will need a seperate solicitor, which will cost him maybe more.

I just want the land registry and deeds exchanged... (i think thats all i need..isnt it?)...so how can i save money and do this myself. Who do i go to? and will it end up costing me more to do it myself?

high quotes? How much is high.

You should sort it all out legally. If he burns your house down accidentally whilst living in it, then he can just claim his back from you and you're stuffed.

yes u can do it legally urself,
u can get the forms from land registry (maybe online?) and u just ring up if ur unsure of filling them in- coz they arent fully in laymans throughout.
Staff were helpful when I did mine, u just send cheque (cost depends on value of transaction), They want proof/payment of stamp duty- didnt apply to my transaction.
Was quite easy, as long as ur happy re searches, should save urselves a bit of money.
