HI there
I've just updated my DVD drivers as I was having probs burning a disk. I stumbled across Driver Detective and it's telling me that my PC contains 17 out of date drivers, such as SiS900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adaptor, C-Media AC97 Audio Device, SiS Accelerated Graphics Port to name but 3. Are these updates vital?
Also, would updating drivers help remove some of the "Red Errors" and "Yellow Warnings" that I can see in System Event Viewer?
Driver Detective tells me that in order for me to update them I need to "Register". What's the best (free) software that I can use to update my PC drivers?!?
Grateful for help, suggestions - be warned, I'm no techie though!
Thanks!

DriverMax is free and very easy to use, I use it though it does try and run every day you dont need it to. I should mention you'll have to register but you dont pay a thing.0
-
Thanks - does DriverMax scan your PC or do you need to search for drivers manually?0
-
It will scan and out put the info to your browser so you can see which ones you need to update then you down load them from there.0
-
Can I set it to update all required drivers or do I have to click on them all one-by-one?0
-
Unfortunately you'll have to click each one, its not a design fault its down to how the drivers are obtained which its from users like yourself. When you do download them make sure you look at the success rate, and go for the one with the most.0

Help!!!
I've installed some drivers with no probs. However, having (or so at least I thought) installed a Unibrain 1394 Driver through DriverMax and restarting (as prompted), the Windows "Found New Hardware Wizard" keeps appearing. And then when I close the Wizard down, it says my hardware may not work properly.
How can I resolve this?0 -
What is the driver for? And why did you close the wizard downl for?0
-
It's NEC OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller (whatever that is). I ran the process as prompted by DriverMax, when it had installed, restarted as prompted by DriverMax and now everytime the PC turns on the Hardware Wizard comes up. I close it cos' it's asking me to insert a CD (which I haven't got) and have no idea as to where to "locate it".
Like I say, I'm no techie!0 -
