A few questions
My current broadband supplier is sky, will i need a MAC code from sky if i am thinking of opting for a 3g mobile broad band service.
I think my download usage is 3 to 5 gig, so which provider would be the best?
Are there any special offers at the moment ie quidco/cashback sites/free laptop=== i really do not want to pay much more than £10.00 per month.
How do i check the 3g coverage in my area Tyne and wear NE36 Postcode?
Anyone out there got a 3g contract and think its fab or foul?
Any good unbiased review sites?
The main reason for wanting to go the 3g route is that i am sick of seeing wires all over the living room going from the router to the phone socket/mains socket plus my sky connection keeps "dropping out"
please help
cheers

I'd say which ever has the best coverage in your area and one that covers your 3-5 gig usage. Are there any special offers at the moment ie quidco/cashback sites/free laptop=== i really do not want to pay much more than £10.00 per month.
I dont know though I believe vodafone do good cashback. How do i check the 3g coverage in my area Tyne and wear NE36 Postcode?
Check out each providers website, I know vodafone has a map and cant imagine why the others wouldn't.Anyone out there got a 3g contract and think its fab or foul?
Ever browse the internet from a phone? A bit like that, slow and expensive, and even more expensive if you go over your limit. If you're just browsing at home definitely not worth it.The main reason for wanting to go the 3g route is that i am sick of seeing wires all over the living room going from the router to the phone socket/mains socket plus my sky connection keeps "dropping out"
I'd personally use a wireless router, and ring sky and tell them you have a problem.0 -
If your sky connection keeps dropping out, there's a fault somewhere. Check your microfilters, get rid of extraneous cabling, try and find out the cause of the problem and get sky to fix it.
You probably already have a wireless router (which model did sky give you?) so if you hate the cables so much, go wireless. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
i use 3 on pay as you go . service depends on signal strength and how populated the cell is .
In my house its patchy but outside its ok . fast enough to run i player . I use it as a back up service or when out and a bout . In jan my main isp changed and i used the 3 g for about 1 week for main use . flippin horrible . Oh online gaming forget it
In short ok as a back up only .If it where me i'd get the current sky sorted 1st. Oh if you do change yoy will not need a mac code for 3g.
Coverage wise borrow a 3 g phone or they have a coverage checker on the site0 -

yes i have a wireless router but there is still the cable from the phone socket to the router and then the power supply from the mains plug to the router

MAC code is irrelevant, it's not an ADSL broadband product.
If your connection drops, it's a signal issue. Make sure your router is plugged into the MASTER BT socket, and not from another extension. I did this and my speeds went up from ~2mbit/s to over 6, and no more drops.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
