how do i find out a landlords name?

Options
Next door to me there is a dog that yaps and barks and whimpers all day. sadly the people who rent it don't seem to mind the noise but the other 3 flats that are attached to it do, one of them has even moved out because she couldn't take it!!!!

We'd like to complain to the landlord, but can't find out anything about him, the only time we see him is if someone moves out the flat. We have the council involved and i called the police this morning (not on 999) and they seemed more proactive than the council.

The dog sounds so distressed and its quite upsetting!

thanks

Get the RSPCA round there if the dog sounds distressed, have you spoke to the owners of the dog about this?

Look the property up on the Land registry
    http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/

and for £3 you can get a copy of the title, if the property is registered. (Not all properties are registered). Finding out of it registered is free.

Do you know if the flat is let through an agent?? Might be worth 'phoning the local letting agents & asking them.

Finally, presumable there are service charges for the flats?? Ask whoever sends the bills out for those service charges - Landlord probably pays them.

Sorry to hear of the dog being unhappy, good-on-yer for doing something about it! Woof Woof!

    Artful
  • The RSPCA weren't interested i've rang them twice :( the owners aren't bothered, they think its ok! I'll be going round later to speak to them again, i won't be polite this time!!!
  • i won't be polite this time!!!

    That will not help.

In my opinion, the barking is also a noise nuisance, you may wish to contact environmental health
  • You know what? i don't care if it will help anymore, when a dog is barking at 10.30 at night and all you want to do is sleep its an awful feeling.

    I've rang:
    the council environmental issues department
    the RSPCA twice
    the police

the land registry won't say if its registered or not it keeps telling me there is an error

i am at the end of temper, i'm a secondary school teacher so i'm very good at keeping my cool, it is now getting out of hand, my nerves are shredded and i just want to cry when i hear them go out because i know whats going to happen for the next couple of hours.

Has your council got an out of hours number for environmental health? Ours has - when I've had problems in the past at the weekend (noisy neighbours, parties till 4am - that sort of thing) I've phoned and they've come out - and visitited the neighbours in question and got the noise stopped immediately. For a longer term nuisance like yours, I'd fill out a log (ours sent us a template to fill in) for a few weeks or days, and send it back so they can see how much/often the disturbance is affecting you.
I do sympathise - it's horrible to have your sleep disrupted.

We have a dog warden but they deal mostly with dogpoop.

The RSPCA are skint apparently and are putting any wildlife down that get bought in - so I assume a noisy dog isn't their problem. They told me to put a cat that was causing us problems in the boot of the car and take it miles away.

Ring your local police station and see if you have any lovely PCSOs. Ours is very nice and loves animals and is good at sorting landlord related issues out. (Nowt like the police ringing up for sorting things out)

I sympathise with you, my awful neighbours have just moved and am now realising how peaceful it is,
Just keep ringing police/environmental each time and they'll soon be taking more notice of u.

Do you have community post boxes? as a last resort you can always look at the post to see if a bill for service charges have been sent to him.Not to sure if its legal but nothing else is working.
