Why are some posts in bold?

lushkat
I have been trying to work out what determines whether the title of a post is in bold. I can see that new posts are always bold, and new posts that I have not read are in bold, but I cant work out how long the post titles stay bold for?
I know I need to get out more
but it has been bugging me for ages??
Thanks

hi Lushkat
They should go back to normal once you have read them

I probably didnt explain myself properly - what I wanted to know is if for example I open up a thread, say OS, first thing in the morning and see the lists of posts, some are bold and some aren't, regardless of whether I have read them or not. Is there a time limit, ie all the posts in the last hour, or is it numbers of posts, ie the last 20 posts. It just doesnt seem to be uniform - and I cant work it out - and I know you probably have lots better things to do, but it bugs me!!! Thanks0

All the threads with new posts or all the new threads are considered new (and appear bold) until you read them. Once you have read them they go to normal until another new post is posted there. All posts are considered read when the cookie storing the information times out after 15 minutes.0

i have to say i get ones not in bold that are new or have new posts to the thread.
i used to only read the bold ones but then realised there were new ones below that werent bold, now i just check when they were last posted to so i dont miss anythingWhen you know better you do better0 -

The easy way around it: Don't log out!0 -

I have the same problem even if I dont log out, the next time I open up the site the bold has dissapeared from the ones that were bold last time whether I have read them or not. Quite often they also loose the unread status even when i have not closed the site, but have minimised it0

Whenever I start a new thread it is NEVER in bold...and I've tried to make it in bold but it doesn't work.
Guess I'm just not special enough to be bold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
