Bank Charges

Options
Hi

I have just received a letter from my bank listing Commission charges of £64 for the last 6 years because I exceeded my agreed overdraft limit. Also listed are fees of £383.50 for having an overdraft facility each month (about £6 charge a month).

Does anyone know, that if good news eventually comes from the OFT, if I claim the £64 plus £383.50 or just the £64 back  ?

Many thanks

    hiya,

as far as i know you can only claim the £64 back as that is the unfair charges,
the £6 per month will proberly be your account charge,

you`ll be better off in this section:

From what I know, only the 64. I had the same problem 3 months ago. I remained with the feeling that they scammed me.
  • Hi recently my daughter is about to be charged for the bank honoring £17.66 asda shopping bill which took her over her overdraft by £4.00 on that same day i transfered 40.00 into her account being at the same bank it is an insatnt transfer, but it was later that day, so they are going to charge her 35.00 for honoring payment and later 28.00 for unarranged overdraft, she was not overdrawn for more then 24hours thats 63.00 that she cannot afford to pay she tried to argue and get it reversed i even was with her the manager would not even come and talk to us, she even went on phone to head office noone would budge she had one reversed once before for going over 2p i think this is imoral and stealing money, because i put money in that very same day, what can i do to get this money back what do you think of this she is at college working for minimal pay part time.

  • bank charges are SO annoying! it happened to me with Alliance & Leicester and i worked out that they owe me nearly £500. Yes i went over my overdraft but they charge you obsene amounts over & over again. i've done my letter to them, via Martin Lewis, but still haven't got my money back. Its soooo frustrating x
  • Even worse, the same Building society will start charging you the minute you OD, send you a letter (3-5days) so they've got 3-5days charges secured before it comes to your attention. Email or SMS doesn't work in their favour, so it's not an option. In France it's ILLEGAL to have debt, so none of this happens.
