Laptop Travel Insurance

Hello! Does anyone know where I can get laptop travel insurance?
I'm going to Germany for 7 weeks, staying in Uni accomodation, BUT I'm not a student, so they won't insure my laptop!!!

Please help if you can-I'm clueless!

Thanks,
Anne

If you can't get insurance for it then consider purchasing a Kensington Lock.

Do you (Or your parents if you live with them) have Contents Cover as it may be covered on that policy already normally for upto 60 days a year outside the UK. If its not covered already give them a ring to see how much it is to cover (Its generally around £30 a year ish.

Either way ring them up to check, make sure you take the persons full name and the date / time.

There is a company that covers Lap Tops on their own buts its around £79 a year from memory
  • The best travel insurance that i have ever come across is Bupa Travel Complete (for companies/groups). Its a worldwide annual policy. Its certainly not the cheapest you can find but has excellent cover levels i.e. 180 days at anyone time and covers laptops, business machine etc ect up to £2000 (where many are 60 days and will not cover laptops ect). You need a minimum of three people to set up a group/company scheme with them and this covers 3+ members and there respective family on business AND pleasure trips. They take you on MHD (medical history disregarded) underwritting. Which is exactly as it sounds they do not take past conditions into account.

Look to pay £94 for per family or £40 per individual for annual worldwide travel cover, the very top cover level. There are cheaper alternatives too.

Holiday insurance often excludes laptops as you have found. Try searching for a business travel insurance policy. This type of policy will cover laptops and other business related equipment.

Insureandgo for example quote £45 for 60 days with a £1000 limit on business items. or £68 for an annual policy.

Get a top travel insurance package and laptops are included (check that).

If you take the highest level of cover they do under the business policy it only covers the lap top for up to £500

Plus a travel policy will normally deduct "Wear and Tear" from what they pay you which could reduce the price they pay for a lap top that cost £500 3 years ago to around £300.
