Argos Shed "base Not Included"

Options
Hello,

Could anyone pleae assist me: I have just ordered a shed from argos 705/3445. In the info supply its states "base not included".

Does Base mean the concrete or slabs the shed rests on? As that is what im thinking ie a patio or gravel etc.. otherwise its just a metal gazebo!!

Or does it mean floor?

I have contacted argos a couple of times on the phone they arent sure, and replys via email they are being really carefull, by stateing things like"i can confirm a base is not included", or "We apologise we do not sell the base" and also " the shed does not include flooring".

Flooring to me means carpet or tiles or laminate.

So ive emailed back saying "CAN YOU CONFIRM THAT THE SHED COMES WITH A FLOOR OR NOT"

Worse case scenario ill just send it back once i have opened it: the price has come down from £249 to £166 so it seems like a bargain.

And if base is a concrete base that i have to make to secure the shed to ....how the hell do i do it??

Thank you all....

VJ

The shed will come with a floor. The base is the foundations i.e. slabs, concrete etc.

If you build a suitable base there will be no need to fix the shed to it - as soon as you start to fill the shed with the usual stuff, it won't be moving anywhere.
  • i think these are just 4 sides and a roof, with no floor.... you need to lay a base eg. slabs etc

edited to say.... if you read the reviews on the argos website this will tell you......

Because this is a light weight metal shed - and it doesn't come with a floor it does need to be secured down, ideally to a concrete base.

I have installed sheds like these in the past and personally i wouldn't have one. I would rather get a wooden shed or 'toolstore'.

Yes metal sheds don't usually come with a floor (just the 4 walls and roof). If you lay a concrete base i'd include a damp proof membrane to try keep inside of your shed dry. I thought about a metal shed myself but apparently if you live near the sea with the salt air they are more prone to corrosion. Also if there's not sufficient ventilation you may get problems with condensation. Other thing is - being metal you can't just whack a nail in the frame to hang up your garden tools! I'd go for a wooden shed - or if your feeling adventurous build your own (which is something i've been intending to do for a while now). Might also be worth considering a brick/block built shed too which someone suggested to me.

Wow lots of info, maybe think about cancelling the order, as a concrete base means paying someone else to do it? 6'x7', i also read concrete slabs would do the trick?

my FIL has a metal shed with no floor. its just laid on paving slabs. theres no need for a proper concrete base as there is no real weight involved.
shed is held down with long rods (hooked) hammered into the ground.
    Get some gorm.

I bought the next size shed up from this and it came with no base so me and a mate shot into Wickes and constructed one from timber. Laid a damp proof membrane underneath from ebay, been as good as gold.
