just considering signing up for the lloyds free text alerts (not the ones you get charged for, but the free ones for text if card is used abroad and the weekly balence text with last weeks 6 transactions) i am just checking to see if there is any catch, doesnt appear to be but wondering if any one has signed up - curious to know if they also try and send emails to sell you services etc? or if any one knows if they intend to start charging down the line

Hi
I used to work for Lloyds when they introduced the free text alerts. I've been getting a mini balance sent to my mobile since then and I can assure you, it's totally free.
Like most things, when you sign up you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of marketing information like emails or leaflets through the post.
I've never heard that they would charge for this service. They would have to let you know in advance if it was changing.
Tip: choose a day of the week that you'd like to check if somethings been paid. I like mine at the start of the week so I know what damage was done at the weekend!£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840 -
