I know I am going to be blasted for this but tough talking is needed here.
So you don't want to work unsocial hours so you want an office job but (and I hate to say this) but what is your unique selling point - what would you offer a prospective employer that the other zillion people out there couldn't offer?
So the job you get now may not be your ideal career but no-one as said you have to do it for the rest of your life - get yourself ou there becuase every day you spend sitting feeling sorry for yourself its another day wasted.
And before you say anything yes I am practising what I preach. I've been on JSA for a fortnight now and its done my head it but I've managed to get myself a part-time job, only 2 days a weeks but it means for 2 days I have a reason to get up, get dressed and not doss around the house. No its not my ideal job but if it only gives me a reason to get up and dressed and gets me out of the house then it will be worth its weight in gold.
I also do an evening job and yes I work weekends and yes I hate it when I have to leave the family but the people I have met through this job have given me sanity during the last couple of weeks which have been really stressful for me.
If you really want to get off JSA then find anything - it will be worth it in the end.2014 Target;

in a nutshell no i do not want to work unsocial hours...by that i mean in a bar working till god knows when in the night...i just simply do not want to do it, its as simple as that. im not being ignorant.
People have told me to change my cv, get my application forms looked at, go around to all employers asking for jobs. Im even willing to travel up to 25 miles to get a job, maybe a little further if i have to.
Just because I have not said "yes il have a bar job" does not necessarily mean that i am not taking the advice on board.0 -
No but you want to have your cake and eat it.
Yes you want a job but it seems that it has to tick boxes and that includes only applying for jobs that are 9-5 - or so it seems - and in today's economic situtation that will limit your options.

That's really not a fair comparison. if someone asked me to try nightshift, yes, have done, still do when needed. Worked bloody hard to get a dayshift job but kept at it inbetween. Worked in catering too. Nothing like boiling the chicken bones for stock. Sometimes you have to do c**p jobs to show you are a sticker, that you can keep regular hours. And to keep your self esteem up, cos its better mentally than signing on.
So, you've been advised to
- try volunteering
- get out and about in your suit with your cv and pound the pavements
- have your cv looked at (by someone other than g/f) because it isnt orking for you atm
- up the number of applications you are doing
Look forward to progress updates on these!Debt free 4th April 2007.

What do you mean by unsocial hours anyway
by unsocial hours i mean working night times. sort of 6-12 or later.
Im not lying if i say it has to tick boxes, nothing wrong with wanting to work 9-5, and i agree it does limit my options.0 -

No there's nothing wrong in wanting to work 9-5 but at the same time, it doesn't make it right to dismiss a job just because of its hours.

It is so very difficult to find work I know and I wish you luck.
I have no real suggestions except that you try writing to companies even if they are not advertising. Not all jobs get advertised. Make sure your CV is really good and send a covering letter. (It helps if you have managed to find out the name of the manager.) Also send an SAE and state that you are available to meet them at any time.
Good luck.0
