I just can't get a job!

Im claiming JSA and although im grateful for it I cannot put up with it for much longer!!!!
Ive been looking for a job since the beginning of january and all im getting is rejection letters!!
I am applying for around 4 jobs a week and although i am not getting a job I am not letting it get to me!
My downside I suppose is my lack of experience, Im 24 had a part time job at 17 for a year, then I worked for a delivery company for 3 years until I was 21 then I started a business wwith my father, due to the economy that was not going to well so I pulled out of it.
I have a HND in Computing, Ive got another qualification in computing as well as my GCSE's.
The most frustrating thing is that I am a very capable individual, a nice bloke who works hard, is friendly and well mannered, why doesnt anyone want me!!!lol
I know there are a lot of people in a worse position than me and I understand that but I just need a job!!!

If you are not getting interviews, then there will be something about the way you present yourself on paper that employers don't like. Seek professional help: take a copy of a recent application and ask a careers adviser to look at it. Then take note of the advice you are given, and change what you do.0

Come on, there are hundreds of people going for some vacancies Voyager!!
I still think its good advice though.
Where in the UK are you tyrone? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

True, but the employer will still pick the applications they like best for interview, and bin the rest. There is a lot that the applicant can do to give themselves the best possible chance of getting called for interview.0 -

Not always, I know of one company have been picking out of the forst 30 that come through the door, they only need to interview 5 really.
Agree about the second bit though! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

4 applications a week for entry level jobs doesnt sound like enough to me. It's a numbers game, you need to have more entries in the job lottery.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
I am in south wales, and although I have not had an application form professionally looked at my girlfriend who is excellent at these things has had a look at it and changed a lot of things, especially the section where you write about yourself and how you fit their criteria.
As for not applying for enough jobs, i can only apply for the jobs that are out there. If i could apply for more I would.
Im searching the nhs, schools, colleges, universities, police, hotels and job websites to find jobs.
Im lucky in the fact that i do not have a mortgage or a car to pay for as I have paid for my car but i still need a job!!
I had a letter back yesterday for a job i applied for saying that they could not meet the deadline as they had 260 applications for the one job and that the deadline for interviews has been put back.
I just hope i get a job before the summer.0 -
Can I suggest you get out there!
Suit on, covering letter and CV in a envelope (x200) and walk around every establishment you can find handing the letter in.
As a stop gap lots of bars are always looking for staff.

Whenever i look for a job i always say i am willing to travel up to 25 miles. In fact most of the jobs I have applied for are at least 30-45 mins away.
To be honest im not really interested in bar work, its just the unsociable hours.
Its office work I am looking for.0
