Modem and broadband

Just about to order a cheap Dell desktop for a friend. Please don't shout at me but does she need to add a modem to the order if she already has broadband?

Most broadband users are connected via an external USB modem supplied by their provider or using a modem/router, so it's most unlikely that she would need to add a modem to the order.

espresso is correct about external USB modems, but some might have an internal PCI ADSL Modem like me instead.

Thanks. She's got Tiscali and has got a "box" so it should be OK.
  • I suppose the obvious question is how does she connect at the moment (assuming she is if she has broadband)?

Does she have a USB modem/router sitting by the computer? Does the ADSL cable plug straight into the back of her existing PC?
    Dave.
