Chimney stack... help

Options
I just bought a house and the chimney stacks have been removed on the ground floor. After having the living rooms re plastered I noticed smail damp patch where one of the chimneys had been 'cut off' and where a blocked off firplace is above.
I lifted the floor boards and it seems, to me anyway that the chimney stacks are unsupported, naturally I'm very worried about this. I think they have been removed about 30 years ago, have I got something to worry about?

How much would it costs roughly to have 2 lintals put in, to support both stacks?

any advice would be greatly appreciated

If it was done 30 years ago it is unlikely to fall down now without some warning.

I would suggest you get someone in to give you an informed opinion.

The damp patches are probably from rain water. If the top is not properly sealed there should be a vent near the bottom to allow a flow of air up the flue to help keep it dry.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
