Download TV

Hi,

I've just started using BBC iplayer, and Download Manager,

do I need a different 'Manager' for each channel, I see ITV

offer Silverlight, what about 4, 5?

Just don't want too many 'extras' would this work with all

channels, or is there an alternative?

Thanks.

Edit: why does my message not fill the screen?

Your message doesn't fill the screen because you appear to have pressed enter after
each line of text you input, like I'm doing just now. The text box will "word wrap" so
unless you actually want to start a new line/paragraph/whatever, there's no need to hit enter after every line.

Back to your main question though, silverlight isn't a manager, it's a browser plugin like flash or java that allows someone to program something that goes beyond what basic html can do, to give more functionality like P2P tv distribution in this case.

TBH, Silverlight's hardly used anywhere, but between it, Java and Flash you shouldn't have any problems. That should pretty much cover all bases.

Why don't you want too many "extras"?

  • Hi,

    thanks for your reply.

Think you're right with the enter, I use it when it gets to the side of the box, as I like a space between lines.

I don't want too many extras, as I don't like clutter, like folk who have ornaments on top of the tv.

Well the ornaments are there all the time, but relatively speaking your PC has a lot of room for ornaments and they're automatically placed on top of the telly as and when they're needed, and shoved into a drawer when they're not.
