Rang them earlier. £2 extra for M broadband, £1 extra for XL, £1 discount for paperless billing will disappear, 50p reduction in bundle discount. Net increase £4.50 per month from 1/5/09. 9% increase and what is inflation currently running at?0

Significantly less than that!
Got a leaflet from sky through the letterbox.
4 pack entertainment option £19.50. (6 packs £21.50)
Phone line rental £10
Sky broadband £0
Sky talk freetime (evenings and weekends!) £0
Paper billing £0
makes the total £29.50.
Seems very tempting.0 -
I canned to if I can cancel, but as I upgraded in Feb 2009 I was told that I can't.
Is this correct, are the T&C's like this? as for mobile phone contract (O2) changes in charges you get the oppertunity to cancel!!
Please can some one tell me if this is correct.. I use 0844 alot (£40-80 monthly phone bill)..
Thanks.

My 75 year old mother would have been forced to pay an extra £18pa to receive paper bills if we hadn't have signed up for her (well OK not forced, she can change provider, but how many older people want to mess about at their age!) - she can't use a computer, she can barley read the bills, and further more - if it cost £1.25 to deliver paper bills, well who was paying for that before this charge came out? Should it not be that we who have signed up for E-billing also get the new charge of £1.25 taken of our bill + and extra £1.25 because now no-one has to now pay to deliver a paper bill!?0

As a committed environmentalist I signed up for paperless Broadband bills from Virgin Media (previously NTL) 4 years ago and have been getting regular E.mails bills each month until recently when I started to get paper bills without any notice. I now find I have to pay £1.25 for this unwanted waste. This is outrageous poor service and goes against the strong environmental commitment by the company to “Reduce Waste Generation” ( I suspect millions of unwanted paper bills have been sent out in the last few months). I was interested to see Sir Richard Branson campaigning to save the rainforests a couple of days ago. Quite a noble act but he should get his own house in order before preaching to others.
It eventually took me 30 minutes to find all the information needed to re-instate my paperless billing so I have requested one months free service in compensation for my wasted time. Given Virgin's previous history of treating customers fairly I don't hold out much hope.

Branson has a very small stake in Virgin Media now - about 6½%.
Although he (presumably for money) allows them to use his respected trade name, I doubt he has any influence on the business.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Roy Jay - I think if they've changed the terms you can get out of the contract - worth giving them a call to ask this?0

They never told me about charging me for a paper bill, when I stared paying by direct debit 3 years ago and received a bill in the post,I said why bother because I can just check my bank statement and they just said they send them out as a matter of course,I have on many occasions said I don't want a paper bill, but they keep sending them, now I know why,so they can get away with charging me an extra £15 per year that's why,and the service is slower now than it was 5 years ago,I am not happy.0
