damp course companies

Options
h ieveryone i recently went through the usual mortgage stuff and found myself at the hands of some very big companies trying to rip me off for damp course and timber treatment works and i was surprised to see a company who seems to think like us
IE saving money

I had all together five qoutes from some of the major market leaders and they were all around £3500 so i was pleasently surprised when i recieved a qoute of this new company that was £1100 pound cheaper i enquired some more and found that the company was formed by disgrunteled and maybe honest? sales people and surveyors who previously worked for the big boys and have set up on their own with little or no overheads but the same service ,Just thought i would share this as its a massive saving for us
they are Homecure Property solutions . Thank god there are some honest ungreedy companies left

Well Done Those Boys!
A very happy customer

    Most spammers provide a link.

Most timber and damp guarantees aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Be cautious of quotes a fraction of the going rate.

Years (25+..) ago I bought a house the needed EVERYTHING. New rook, plumbing, heating, wiring etc etc & allegedly a new damp-course & there was also dry-rot.

The quotes for damp-course & dry-rot were ludicrous. I paid a bloke to come round on Saturday morning and knock in some new air-bricks and clear off the concrete a previous owner had concreted over the old, Victorian-slate damp-course.

For dry-rot (small patch, about size of a CD..) I bought some foul chemical solution, some masks to breath through & a sprayer. Down in cellar 3 times to spray. Dry-rot never came back. IIRC there was a retention on the mortgage but it was cheaper to live with that till the house was sold than pay the daft fees.

    Good luck!

Damp & Timber-treatment is often--but-not-always really simple. A bit of spraying and/or some decent ventilation.

However, if any quotes suggest serious nasties, be careful! It's your main asset you will be gambling with!!

    Cheers!
