Or will it lose settings if I do?
Probably really daft question but I'm new to this wireless lark.
Thanks

I wouldn't, it's too much hassle. Every time the power has been cut I have had to repair and renew the IP address.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thanks. Glad I asked as I spent about 2 hours setting it up tonight!!0 -
You should be able to turn it off without any problems. I used to turn mine off every night, and it worked just fine.0

I switch mine off every night and don't lose any settings - for the record I am with Orange0

Took me ages to set mine up too, especially the secure connection - do take the time to make sure you do this.
When we have had power cut the modem and router just reset and work fine, in fact service provider recommend switching off to "reboot" before calling tech support.0 -
What a waste of energy.
Turn it off when you don't need it .What will you do if you go on holiday.
Of course routers will retain their settings when you turn them off.0 -

Which modem are you using? Mine is a Linksys and it has never been reliable. I dread interruptions to the power as it means that I can't access the net asap and waste time in repairing.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Just been looking at security - all a bit confusing to be honest! The person I spoke to at internet providershelp desk helped me set up WPA Encryption. Does that mean my connection is secure?0 -
Turn the router and PC (and printer and scanner etc.) off at the wall when you are not using them. Saves about 30 watts.0
