Firstly teach your son the importance of keeping receipts
.
Did he pay by credit card so that he can show proof of purchase? That would help otherwise there might be a problem proving he hasn't had it long and it was the first wash. Also you need to be sure which shop it was River Island or Topman.
Then go back to the shop and show them what has happened. It could be that it's happened to others and they are aware of it. I don't use either of these shops so don't know their policy when it comes to problems like this but hopefully with some kind of proof of purchase they will be helpful. Or maybe it is a brand that only that shop sells which is proof in itself that he bought it from there and if only washed once there should be little signs of wear which will tell them it's a recent purchase.
Good luck, hope he gets it sorted, that's a lot of money to pay for it to fade so quickly.0 -
At my local market, £50 would had bought a few tops, a couple of ales and lunch with Freda0

50 notes on a top from River Island or Yopman you need to get his head testing0

I had problems with River Island who claimed that shoes that split within a week of purchase should not be refunded because it wasn't along a seam so therefore not a manufacturing fault and therefore not liable!
(I had already got my refund when I queried why they had not refunded my son who had been in with the item earlier that day - that's when they came out with this one). I vowed never to return and haven't -neither has my son - so for the sake of one item they have lost two customers. Absolutely crap shop - shoddy merchandise with non-shoddy prices! 0 -
nothing as he has no receipt...0
