Internet explorer problems

DS mistakenly did a system recovery/restore this evening  Some of my stuff seems to still be there, some has gone.

Before this happened, IE had 'tabs' at the top, but now they're not there. I know this is probably a stupid question but can anyone tell me what's happened?

I'm assuming I've got an older version? But how do I get my tabs back? I liked it that way.

Thanks

Is tabbed-browsing available at all? If you press Ctrl-T does the browser open a new tab at all? If not, it sounds very like it's gone back to the God-awful IE6.

Resisting the urge to say "download Firefox" ... you can get the latest version if IE (which is now at version 8) from

Check if you're still using IE7. In IE go to Help > About. It should tell you what version you've got.
If it is IE7 tabs may have been turned off.
Go to Tools > Internet Options > General tab. Half way down you should see a button for Tab settings. Click there and make sure "Enable tabbed browsing" is ticked.
  • Thanks so much. It was IE6 - have downloaded IE8 now. Feels like coming home.

Your help is very much appreciated guys

Oh, and I do have FF too so I'm not a complete failure lol

Off to try and work out how to get my email up and running again now...
