can anyone explain to me why some of my documents have "junction arrows" on them?
and do i need them? are they dupicated?

Arrows in the corner of an icon usually represent shortcuts. This can happen when the file is stored in another location.
It's nothing to worry about and deleting them will only delete the shortcut and not the file.0
