Does DLA count as income?

Silly thing maybe to ask but someone just told me that your Dla cant be counted as part of my income.
So was just wondering is this right?

Correct, DLA and AA are disregarded as income.0 -
Yes that is true.
Both DLA and AA may actually help with other benefits such as Housing Benefit, Tax Credits, etc

You should change the bank account that you get your benefits paid into to another bank.0 -

DLA can be used in cases of debts as income, it depends on the bank. County Courts class it as income.0

it's not counted as income for most means tested benefits, but it can for certain things, for example discretionary housing payments which is like an extra to housing benefit in cases of hardship CAN count it as income.
i don't know about debt recoveryI work in Housing Benefits however my comments are my own understanding of the law / procedures and you should also check with your local authority.0 -
Hi,
Its not a taxable social security benefit so it wouldn't effect child tax credit in any negative way. They do need to know if you recieve carers allownace as well though.
