What terminals have you got in your old sensors?0
-
The standard is...
Red +12V
Black -12V
Blue & White - Alarm (usually either way around)
Yellow & green - Tamper (usually either way around)
However you need to copy the old colouring used. Your old PIR's should have similar labelling but may not have the eol or tst terminal.0 -

There is no standard for this, also its normally Blue and Yellow for Alarm and Green and White for Tamper.Does the original sensor have resistors in it?0 -
Look on the old pir and it shold be labeled up with 12v n/c and tam or the like. What make is the old pir?
There is know standard wire colours. Every company use what they want to.
If not.....
Before opening the panel, are you competent working around 240v?
If not get someone in to do it. Will not cost more than the cost of a call out fee.
You could kill your self and or you alarm panel.
If you are...........
Open up your panel and see what wire goes to 12v aux. This is where all the power for all you pirs come from. The zone that the old pir is on and the tamper.
12v + and- should be easy.
If you dont have a zone list then you could do a walk test or take one of the zone wires out of the pir, close pir and panel covers to stop the tamper and set the alarm, stand there and see what zone flashes. The same as when you set with your front door open.
The tamper will be next to the zone in the panel or might be a global tamper.
(google this if it is)
Hope this helps.

Before removing any wires best to down power the panel, mains and battery back up. Because you might blow the aux fuse in the panel.0 -

I assure you that there is a standard practice of red & black for +12V & ground.
It is the blue, white, yellow, & green for alarm & tamper that companies play around with. See link and look at top right of 2nd page. http://www.responsesecurity.co.uk/PDF/manual/45168PL_Ed_2_Wired_PIR_Instructions.pdf
I think that Friedland and response alarms know something about alarms!
As mentioned before... you need to copy the old wiring because many installers have their own convention, although most still use red & black for power.
I REPEAT.... The best advice is to COPY THE OLD AND IGNORE THE COLOUR "STANDARD", "NORMAL", "CONVENTION" DISCUSSION.0 -
I didnt say anything about Friedland or Response, all i said was the colour that we use and probably 95% of alarms i have taken over use this colour code.Yes i totally agree with you in using the existing wiring code or there could be problems.
Just write down what colour is connected and copy it.0
