Ideas for children in school to raise money?

My school council try to raise funds for the projects they carry out in school - making a garden, recycling, buying playtime equipment, etc.

Does anyone know of any ideas / groups that are easy enough for the council (ages 7 to 11) to try out to raise more money for their school projects?

Thank you

Give the older class children 1 pound each ask them to come up with ideas on how to make that pound grow. I am sure you would get more than £30 back if there were 30 in a class. They could make and sell cakes. Make a game, pick a lolly, face paint allsorts. The rest of the school could support them by having a go on the games etc, either one day after school or at a lunch time ?

We did a British Heart Foundation sponsored skipathon and retained 25% of funds raised.

School discos are v. easy to organise. Persuade the teachers and some parents to supervise. £60-£80 for a DJ and £2.50 per child including a bottle of water and a bag of crisps. Glowsticks are available very cheaply (approx 3p each) and sell for 20p to enhnace the event.

Playtime equipment is extortionate. Sainsburys vouchers are good for this.

Most of these ideas still involve the parents of the pupils to fork out the cash. Can the children/PTA do a bag pack? You can usually raise several hundred pounds in a day if you have a busy store. There are some regulations on age, etc depending on the store. Why not get the pupils to put out a newsletter to see if any parents work in the local supermarkets?

We also have a bingo night which encourages the grannies to come along and we have raised £400 in one night. Prizes are mostly donated wine, toiletries, chocs, etc. Our PTA have their own bingo machine and the books are cheap to buy. We charge a £1 to get in which includes Tea and a biscuit. We also hold a Christmas Fair complete with Santa's Grotto which is held on a Friday afternoon during school time in December. The staff put together a hamper and is a popular raffle prize.

    Hope these suggestions help.

How about Bag 2 School? Everyone is provided with large blue bags and you donate your clothing, soft toys etc. The school will get so much per tonne (or part of) that they donate, and it really helps to clear out your cupboards.
My children's school is relatively small, but we do Bag 2 School twice a year and raise around £200 each time. Not bad for a bit a recycling. x

Bag 2 School is very easy and makes loads of money with very little effort:D. Take a look at the web site. www.bag2school.com/
