Hi - what is windows JRE ( I am about to download openoffice), and how do I now if I have it

JRE = Java Runtime Environment.
Look in Settings > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and if you have it it will be listed in there.
Java is basically computer code that can execute on different types of computers. To be able to work on a Windows PC, it needs these bits called Windows Runtime Environment. Other machines will have their own environments, like Unix etc.
