Natwest Step Account

going throught the bank charges reclaim so attempting to open up new bank accounts..

oh applied online for nw basic bank account and to my knowledge has been accepted..
after looking around we decided to apply for a natwest step account with the possibility of getting a visa electron card...

got a letter this morning asking him to sign docs and send 2 id docs in from list... Gonna send in payslip and council tax bill...

so does this mean his been accepted or do they not do credit score till after recieved id?

our score is low not bad just 2 defaults and no ccj's so not expecting high account hence applied for step...

Thanks in advance

  • usually they need to see the ID before even credit scoring the account, & the Visa Electron card you mentioned, I assume that's with some other provider as with the Step account all you can get is a Solo debit card

The step account doesnt come with a Visa Electron the best you can hope to get is a solo card, and no cheque book.

  • Be careful - a payslip is often not accepted for ID
  • one of the things on the list is payslip within last 6 months....

i think its for proof of income?

solo electron same sort of thing... Oh would just like to have something to use in tesco ect so solo will be fine :)

I've got a step account, it's basic but it works. For god's sake don't go a penny o/drawn. it's £38. I'm in the process of reclaiming my charges. Also you do get a solo card which is accepted pretty much everywhere these days.
