Dog on overland trains
Comments

Used to work for good ole British Rail, and dogs are allowed on trains providing they don't get up on the seats. A small dog could get away with sitting on someones lap, but there's not much room. I find getting into a window seat best as there is more room for the dog nder the table and seat, and no tails/paws etc stray into the aisle. After one long long journey with someone elses smelly German Shepherd on my feet I would suggest that the dog is sweet smelling as a courtesy to other passengers!!!
Greyhounds must be mussled on trains, for some strange reason, and are usually put in the Guards Van. Dogs in largish carriers are not a good idea as there is nowhere to put the carrier and they are not allowed to be put on the tables, as well as the permanent problem of luggage space on long distance trains they can't be sure of getting a place in the luggage racks. I do wonder how the mainly young get away with allocating a seat to their rucksack/sportsbag and stop paying passengers getting a sest. I did once issue a ticket to a dog, with his name on it, for a very nervous passenger who was very worried about taking her westie on the train lol0 -
Yes I will be washing Molly before we leave. She dived head first into the bath the other day when I was in it:rolleyes: so I'm sure she's trying to tell me something. I don't think I need to worry about her taking up much space as still a puppy so will be on my lap snoring prob for the whole journey.0
