hi,
it is my dads birthday soon and all the family are getting together to get him a sat nav for his car.
anyway he will need one that is
a) portable (be using it in 2 different cars)
b) hand held computer? (diary, phone book etc.)
c) easily upgradable (only UK maps though)
d) around the £300 mark maximum (would go a tiny bit over but not a lot)
if anyone knows of any good ones with these specifications can they post it up as i havent got a clue about which ones are good and which ones arent as good.
Thankyou in advance
Andy

Sat Nav only then a Tom Tom one takes some beating.
Otherwise you are looking for a PDA based system. There are numerouse to choose from, take a look at https://www.pocketgps.co.uk/ they have lots of reviews and forums for the differant types of setups.
In my brief experience the tom tom software is the most user friendly, however some say the mapping that is used is not the best but I find it does me. I would advise that if you want a pda based system make sure it is an all in one unit ie a satalite receiver built into the pda makes life a lot simpler.0 -

thanks!
has anyone had any experience with the ones in the links above?0 -
I bought my husband the Tomtom 300 for christmas and we've been really pleased with it. It remembers familiar routes too so you don't have to keep inputting them in.
On a pound per argument saved it's been a bargain!
I paid £269.99 for it from Currys0 -

TomTom are releasing new editions of the GO in a week or two... might be worth holding off as you might get a good deal on one of the "older" (but still perfectly good) editions.0

another 'plus' vote for TomTom 300 here - it's excellent.if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

are any of the tom tom ones a pda system?
can anyone else recommend another pda sat nav?0
