The key thing about this report isn't that house prices have fallen, but it's the acceleration.

That's basically any hope of bottoming out, wiped out.
Very true. It's really tremendous news for those hardworking families hoping to buy their own home. And bad news for BTL spivs who had hoped to make a fast buck at others' expense

They should have been reading this forum then and then they would have known what was coming. A good advert for MSE

To be fair even the finest minds in Britain (I'm thinking Brown and Darling here) couldn't see it coming. Reading MSE or not.

    Wishful thinking Graham.

According to halifax, house prices have increased so far in 2009:p

Facts speak for themselves aswell, 19% in 18mths (halifax) is an average rate of just over 1% per month.

You are like the emperor who still believes he is wearing a fine new suit. I suspect that you bought at the top of the market and no matter what evidence you see around, you cling to your own belief, like a Victorian archbishop believing in creationism.

Halifax do NOT say prices have increased in 2009. They say they rose in January, and then fell substantially more in February. A £100,000 house which rose 1.9% in January and fell 2.3% in February is now worth £99,556.

I'm still intrigued what makes your house and road so special as to be magically bucking a worldwide slump in house prices.

The BTL spivs are being bailed out along with the average home owners.
Need to properly tax the BTL spivs.
