Changing from Pre-Payment meters
HI,
I've just moved to a council flat which has a prepayment key electric meter and pre-payment Gas card meter.
Does anybody know if it's possible to get a monthly direct debit and get rid of the meters?
Also does anybody else have a gas card meter who only has central heating with Gas?
If so how much roughly is your charge's as my meter spins around when we have the heating on :S
I went through £5 in one night
Thanks in advance

I had a prepayment meter for my electric when I moved in to this place (6 years ago) and rang Powergen to switch it out - no hassle at all, even let me pay quarterly if I wanted.
Cannot comment on the gas meter, but rest assured having an installed non prepay meter is always going to be a darn sight cheaper than a prepay job - get rid as soon as you can...0 -
As you are new customer there should be no problem with changing the electric meter.
We did this about 8 years ago when we bought and moved in to are flat. As we had economy 7 but no storage heaters. It was not until we where moving out and visited a neighbour I found out they had all been installed with storage heaters. And in the first 3 months used £75 worth of electric. I know we using electric heaters but even so.
If you can't change gas meters then look at these people as they seem to be one of the few companies that allow pre-payment users to change and they charge 1.94p per kWh (including VAT). And no standing charge. The price per KWH does not look to bad. No idea what you would be charged on a pre-payment meter.
Hope that helps.
