Kitchen sinks

Options
We have anew build and the builders must have stood on our sink when they were doing bits and bobs, it bows and although it looks fine when you put something on it it fills with water. We have dishwasher anyway so don't use it a great deal but want to chnage it for a black one anyway.

Do i just measure the sink as it is now for the one we want to change it for i.e length and width?

As for a tap to go in it the new one has 1 hole, how do you work out which taps fit..are they pretty standard?

Thanks

When you say that the sink fills with water, surely that is what it is supposed to do. I am not quite sure what is the problem. Maybe I have misunderstood your post.
With regards to replacement, obviously the new sink will either have to be exactly the same shape as the old one or a bit bigger, so that the hole can be enlarged to accommodate it. It will not be sufficient for the new sink to be almost the same as the old one. A single fixing mixer will fit into a standard hole in the new sink.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Exactly how old is your "new build" and how long have you been in? If it's just been built and you are the first owners then surely if it was already damaged when you moved in you should be contacting the builders to tell them. They should replace it for you and you could perhaps negotiate the cost of that towards your new black one.

Hi 27col apologies i didn't write that properly at all looking back! the drainer is the problem with the sink as of course yes the sink should fill with water!! so it is the drainer that is bowing! thanks for the reply.

Tomsmom we had our snagging done and it was a gripe with all the propertys, amazingly it was the one thing they wouldn't budge on! i asked neighbours about theirs and they had asked too..but nope. Next door has just replaced hers as she doesn't have a dishwasher so a bigger prob i guess as she uses it more.

    Thanks again x

What about contacting the NHBC for advice? I can't believe that they'd be so careless as to use a sink top to stand on, and damage so many, then not accept responsibility for it. Well, yes I can believe it but it's still not right.

Is the dishwasher freestanding under the drainer? reason i ask it is some times possible to reverse the bow in the drainer and make sure it wont reappear.

Hi tomsmum i know what you mean but we have been here over a year so not fussed now, we asked a few times and it was a no and for the sake of a £75 sink we want (and prefer!) i'm not going to waste my time!

premkit no the washing machine is under the drainer.
