Help! Ryanair online vs airport check in... pls!

OK! Booked flights yesterday for me, OH & 2 year old son. Opted for online check-in, got good prices & paid up. Thought we'd gone through all the options & read everything carefully!
This morning have re read confirmation details & was clearly overtired last night as now clearly see that it says passports required for online check in :o
My own stupid fault for obviously not reading things carefully enough as little one does not have passport.
Can anyone help me out with my options???? (obviously looking for cheapest!!!)
As i see it.....
1. Get passport at £46
2. Change to online check-in, although we would all have to change. Anyone know how much this change would cost me.
Any other options????
Thanks for your help guys.

Check carefully: I thought that on-line check in was only available for adults.

Otherwise, get that passport. You might well want to travel overseas sometime, and in any case you won't need to face the frustration of calling Ryanair premium telephone numbers.

Me too - many times... online check-in is not available for infants, but it's fine for children.

The airport check-in fee is £10 per person per flight, so assuming you've booked return flights it will come to £60 - and that's assuming you can do it on the website - if you do it over the phone it will be £120! Definitely go for the passport if you've got time.

BTW - last time I called Ryanair you did NOT have to use the premium rate line - the geographical number in Ireland was able to help with all queries I had.

    Hi,

Would you not need a passport regardless of online check in or not??

I have 1 year old and 11 year old, both have passports. I thought you would have to have photographic id or some sort for uk travel, so with kiddies the only option is a passport and adults I presume would be driving licence or pasport, and for travel out of uk then only a pasport will do.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty certain that kids traveling out of the UK will require a passport as mine have always needed one.

Currently, children under 16 do not require photo id when travelling within the UK/Ireland with an adult.

    Thanks everyone!
I kinda figured that the cheaper option would be passport...... should just have enough time! Like i said before it's just my own stoooopid fault!!!!
Having travelled to Belfast with Ryanair before children don't need passports we just showed birth cert, but that was airport check in as LO was under 2 then.
Oh well....... off to sort the passport!!!!
    And thanks again guys!

op did not specify where they were going, but she is getting a passport for little one, so I must now presume she must be going out of the uk. :o

I am going to Belfast, so LO doesn't need passport.... can travel without, but do need passport to do online check in, hence the issue.
Looks like it's cheaper to get him a passport than change us all to online check in.

I wish you well in this but I'm somewhat confused.

In the first line of your first post you said that you had opted for online check-in but in later posts you have talked about changing to online check-in. Why would you have to 'change' to online check-in if this is what you had opted for in the first place?

What do you mean by LO?
