Housing association fustration

Any advise would be great.

I live in a housing association house, 2 bed. I have been trying to get a 3 bed for 5 years. It is impossible. There are 3 stages Gold, silver and bronze.
I am in silver. But all the lovely houses go to gold, which is homeless and desperate situations, which to some extent I understand.

Anyway. A house has come up around the corner from me, the people have abandoned it. So far it is not common knowledge. I asked if I could swap my house, we are a genuine quiet family who run a small business, would be ideal for it. But they said it has to go through the council scheme, which will mean, someone from the gold band as usual will get it.

Can anyone help me or advise me what to do? I am lost as to what I can do to get a bigger house. We wish we could buy so we don't have to rely on this, but it's impossible.
I am in a no win situation and am very fed up.

Is there anything I can do?

You can't use 'homeswapper' for council property

Have you got children? You'll need at least two to qualify for a 3 bed house. You could look at mutual exchange but it's unlikely someone will want to move to a smaller house.

Your only answers could be private renting or buying

HomeSwapper is for social tenants (in rented property) who want a house swap (or flat swap). This is also called mutual exchange. If you live in a council house or housing association property you can swap.

Hi

I am a member of homeswapper. Nothing so far.

This house has just been abandoned, I was hoping the housing associatio would let us move and then put my 2 bed up for offer. I wondered if there was a chance I could get them to do it.
My 2 share a room it's really cluttered and my son has bad asthma and I have a very bad back, I'm waiting for an operation, I have to park down the path at the mo, and this place has a drive so I could bring my own shopping in, which would be great.

Is there anything I could say that would let them swap me into that house?
