Ex GF put water in car petrol tank
Hi, I think my ex has put water in my car engine fuel tank. We split on Yesterday and today when I started my car it faid to fire. I suspect that she put petrol in the fuel tank as my next door neighbor soor her filling up a grren can in the garden and go towards my car but didnt see her put it in.
Now the car doesnt start and I'm worried about the cost. Will it cost a fortune to sort out?? What can I do??.........

What car is it mate? You need to get it drained of as much water as you can and then try filling the tank full with petrol and you may be ok. You could try syphoning it out but the chances are the tank will have to come out and emptied.0 -
A garage would have to drain the fuel tank and clear the fuel lines.
If it's an older car and you want to DIY, take out the spark plugs and see if you can pump the water through until you get petrol. But if you think she's put a gallon of water in, drain the tank first.
Cost? Well, that depends on the car. As a rule, the more complicated they are, the more expensive it will be.
Good luck with it.Russ.0 -

Have you tried asking her if she has done something to your car? Advsie her that obviously you have spoken to the police and will make a complaint regarding this as you will not be paying for any damage she has caused.
What car is it? Does the petrol cap open without the keys etc? Are you sure its not just a coincidence and that the neighbour may be firing the situation up on purpose?0 -
It's not an easy or SAFE DIY task - all the fumes, even when messing about with an empty tank - let alone making sure you've enough suitable containers to store the contaminated fuel in.
Then you'll also need to dispose of it.
Best let the local garage do it.
& don't try & start it any more, else you'll pump more water where it shouldn't be going!!

you need to remove it soon as well because in time it can make the tank rust out as well.0
