because this was alot cheaper and i just thought it would be easy to set up as a tv

As far as i can tell your options are ~
Connect via an aerial lead (Assuming your tv does have a standard aerial connection)
Or upgrade to V+ box and connect voa component (red,blue and green cables)
I dont think your screen has SOUND capabilities though which means youll have to plug phonos from the media box into your hifi or suchlike

But id say its looking more and more like your going to have to buy a new tv

ive got a v+ box gone through red, blue and green cable and the picture comes out green,
as for sound i only have to plug in speakers for it as theres speaker connections

Im guessing now as I dont actually have either (I have the cheapie virgin box). Going into the virgin settings menu ~ can you change the COMPONENT output at all? (Id guess its displaying RGB when it should be YCBCR)
Either that or the display will only output RGB (Again, go into the tv settings and look to see if you can change the COMPONENT settings to suite the v box)

That may be true, you may need to change a setting on you V+ box to component.
