Whoa there. Let's prune the maximum wages first.

Comrade, I wasn't aware there was a maximum wage?

When did the "Party" implement this?

How about this then for wages trimming in the civil service.

Shift working of 3 shifts in a day and rotated for all civil servants.Older staff paid a premium to pensions if opting to work lateshift and nights.Younger single staff supplied by national service at a lower pay rate , ie minimum wage...see below.

Gp surgery and hospital outpatients open 16 hrs a day.Have chemists inside major gp surgery.

Dwp/dss whatever it is called this week goes 24 hours , clerical processing done nightshifts.I have always said that they are very good at telling people not to refuse shift jobs , then lets see if it works when the shoe is on the other foot.

A National service used to pay off any student fees/loans in return for working as civil servant for x years , accelerated payment by doing the lates and nights.

You see by doing this the later shifts will mostly be filled by those without kids to look after ie the single or those whose kids have grown up.

    sound plausible?

There is nothing wrong with innovative thinking.

    Here's another.

Who is to say a particular role requires 5 days of effort every week?

Surely, some jobs may need 1.5 days of someones time, or 3.5 days, or 2 etc etc.

Let's change the antiquated view of part time vs full time, and start with the civil service.

The NHS alone is the biggest employer in Europe. Cutting wages by 10% would also be cutting the amount all these members of staff pay in national insurance, so come on, think about it!
saving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...

    Sounds discriminatory.

    Tell me why/how?

There is no carrot v stick here , its purely carrot.

Given that peoples cirumstances change with their ages and decisions that affect their life , ie further education-sinlge-kids/married-near retirement-retirement then everyone actually benefits and at the time they need it if they choose....its a win-win.

This is one part of the civil service that everyone forgets about , cutting their wages is wrong.Cutting costs here should be at the higher levels to get more registered nurses and doctors in instead of overworking them and overpaying for temps , and especially in cutting the branded medicines bill.

I regularly see hospitals , over the last decade I have seen more sitting than doing from those above the bottom grades. Those grades now are doing some of the daily jobs of higher positions ie those of registered nurses.Yet when I go from big hospitals to smaller ones theres less staff and more actual work being done at the smaller one.

Discrimination is 100% legal for the state, not for anyone else.

    Black only police recruitment anyone?
