Hi guys,
Have been given an offer from my work that lets me get a "loan" (tax fee and can pay it back over 3 years) for a computer for up to £1300 BUT i have to get it from pc world! AAARRRGGHH!
Already have a pretty nippy desktop, but want a laptop for convenience, it'll only cost me about 30 quid a month, and my pay rise should absorb that.
Can anyone advise me as to what spec i can get for this amount?
Looking for a desktop replacement, relatively futureproof and able to run windows vista.
Not too bothered about hdd, as got 720gig on my desktop, can buy an external too.
Must have a dvd writer, and 1gig memory.
Not too sure about processor, but portability isn't a factor, batery life needn't be great, would rather have a fast pc.
Can anyone help?
cheers.

I like the look of the compaqs with the AMD chips
COMPAQ V5030 AMD TURION64 MOBILE PROCESSOR ML-32 1.80GHz LAPTOP
(222200)
COMPAQ V5094 AMD TURION64 MOBILE TECHONOLOGY ML-37 2.0GHz LAPTOP
(951210)
Maybe buy a big RAM chip an put it in yourself?

cool, how do the amd chips compare? (my desktop has a p4 3.0ghz)
certainly, the V5094 specs seem good (the other one's a bit too underpowered), although the 128mb graphics seems a bit puny

Do you have to buy it retail, or through their business account? There's a big difference both in prices and product range.0

AMD's are great on the desktop at the mo, my 64bit 3500+ compiles my thesis twice as quick as a intel 3.0ghz
I cant vouch for the mobile chip, but i am itching to try them out!
